April 6, 2020 - We Are Here For YOU, Telemedicine, and More!

First Sight Vision Care has been busy over the last week setting up new processes to better serve you during this difficult time. We want you to know that these new processes will give you better access to care while we adhere to social distancing guidelines.

In the event you should develop an eye emergency, we ask you call our office where we can provide you with solutions to help remedy your eye problem. Should you need an eye surgeon, we have close relationships with many in the area and we will get you seen in the most efficient manner.

We will be available via phone and text message for eye emergencies, contact lens prescription and medication refills and other urgent care matters: Monday – Friday from 9am to 3pm.

Available Patient Care Services

  • Telemedicine (NEW)
  • In-Office Visit
  • e-Visits via Patient Health Portal

Telemedicine

Facetime and Skype are both approved telehealth methods available at our office to assess eye emergencies that can be seen using video conferencing methods. Please keep in mind that this form of communication is only possible while HIPAA regulations have been relaxed due to the state of emergency. Please call our office to schedule an appointment.

In-Office

Should an internal exam of the eye be needed, we have office hours available. To ensure a safe visit to our office we have added additional protocols to prevent the spread of disease.

  • To reduce waiting room capacity. Only patients with appointment will be allowed to enter the office. We kindly ask family members to wait in the car.
  • FSVC team will be wearing facemask and gloves while delivering care.
  • Every staff member and doctor will wash his or her hands prior to each patient exam.
  • We always clean exam lane equipment between patients and now we are cleaning each exam room chair and counter between patients as well.
  • Doorknobs, counters, and frames are disinfected frequently throughout the day.
  • We will be greeting you with a welcoming wave and a smile in lieu of a handshake.

e-Vists

Our online portals at www.revolutionphr.com provide access to your prescription and records. Should video conferencing not be available, you can also contact us via the health portal if you have questions about your eyes. E-visit consultation will require consent for treatment and Insurance copays will apply. Please contact our office to get login information and password reset if you would like access.

Optical Services

We have scaled down our optical service at this time however, we understand that broken glasses and contact lenses can pose a challenge and in some cases a risk to safety especially in individuals with high prescriptions. We are available to help if those emergencies arise.

  • We continue to offer free shipping of all new contact lens orders to your home
  • Scheduled pick up times for eyewear orders placed March 30th and prior, OR direct-to-home delivery available for a small shipping fee.

We hope these extra measures will ensure access to care and your continued trust in the team at First Sight Vision Care. We wish everyone health and safety during this time of uncertainty and we look forward to seeing you soon!

April 1, 2020 - Stay Home! Stay Healthy!

On March 30, 2020, Governor Larry Hogan signed a Stay-at-home executive order for all Maryland residents. We plan to adhere to his recommendations and have decided to shut down operations until the health crisis has passed.

We will be suspending our in-office operations on Monday April 4th, 2020. However, we will continue to be available for emergencies, contact lens prescription and medication refills and other urgent care matters via phone and text message: Monday to Friday 9am-3pm.

We feel this is in the best interest of our patients and our team and we look forward to resuming normal operations in the weeks to come. Please visit our Facebook page and our website for up-to-date information regarding our office hours and service availability.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

March 23, 2020 - Office Hours and Eye Care Services UPDATE

We are carefully monitoring any updates by the CDC and local government mandates. As a result, we have made the decision to reduce our services to urgent and emergency eye care only until April 3, 2020.

As of today, our main building doors will be locked. If you have scheduled appointment within the next 2 weeks, please make sure to call the office upon arrival so we can give you access to enter the building.

Although the office will be closed to walk-ins and routine eye exams, we will be available by phone to answer any questions, place contact lens orders, schedule urgent/emergent care appointments and other matters: Monday – Friday from 9am to 3pm.

Dr. Sukon is still available to see patients for red eyes, sudden vision changes, and other urgent issues for both new and established patents.

If you have ordered glasses and is now ready for pick up, please contact the office to schedule a pick up appointment or if you would prefer your glasses shipped to your home, please contact us for options to get the glasses sent directly to you.

We are offering to extend contact lens prescriptions for up to 6 months for current patients. If you are in need of contact lenses you may contact the office via phone, email or text to process your order.

As always, we continue to be available for eye emergency after hours. Simply call the office after hours and leave a message on the emergency voicemail and one of our doctors will return your call.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

March 19, 2020 - A Message to Our Contact Lens Wearer

We are adhering to CDC recommendations and monitoring updates very closely. At this time there is no recommendation to discontinue contact lens wear. However the CDC recommends that we refrain from touching our eyes, nose and mouth, as a contact lens wearer that is difficult. To avoid possible infection we have always recommended washing your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses. We now recommend that you wash your hands both before and after putting your contact lenses in, and again before contact lens removal.

It is also recommended that you follow all manufacture instructions for proper cleaning and disinfection listed on your contact lens solution bottle. If you are still concerned about disinfection, we recommend you changing to a hydrogen peroxide solution system such as Clear Care. If you choose this brand please make sure that you read the directions carefully prior to use.

If you will need a supply of contact lenses in the next 2-3 months, we are recommending that you order them now. As of Friday 03/20/2020, we will be closed to all non urgent patient appointments, however, we are currently available by phone, text or email to take contact lens orders and are able to directly ship them to your home with FREE SHIPPING. If you wish to order a full year supply, we currently have rebates of up to $200 off, please contact the office for more details.

We aren’t sure how long our distributer will continue to fill orders, so if you think you will need contact lenses we suggest ordering them as soon as possible.

Currently our customer service hours for non-urgent issues are Monday – Friday 10am to 4pm until further notice. Should there be any changes to our customer service hours, we will make sure to notify you as soon as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns via phone call or text message at 301-490-3036 or via email at info@firstsightvisioncare.com.

March 18, 2020 - CDC Recommendation to Discontinue Routine Eye Care

As of Friday 03/20/2020:  We will be closed to all non-urgent patient appointments, however, we are currently available by phone, text or email. We are working to enable telemedicine services. Please Stay tune!

March 13, 2020 - Help Us Keep Our Community Healthy

As Maryland continues to prepare and take measures to protect our communities from the COVID-19 (Coronavirus 2019) pandemic, it is understandable that our families are seeking assurances from local leaders that they are taking measures to prepare and protect their residents. Please know that the First Sight Vision Care team members have added additional measures to ensure a safe visit to our office.

At this time, we are fully operational and will continue until local, state or national health professionals deem a change necessary. We will continue to remain in contact with the American Optometric Association, CDC and Maryland Department of Health for the latest Emergency Management and Infectious Disease Responses.

We ask that you call to reschedule your appointment if you or someone in your household is experiencing any flu-like symptoms including sore throat, fevers, or a persistent cough. Please help us prevent the spread of the virus.

First Sight Vision Care will continue to be proactive and make practice-wide changes as needed. You have our commitment on preparedness and continued safety for all our patients, families, and employees.
