Advanced Diagnostics

Home Eye Care ServicesAdvanced Diagnostics

First Sight Vision Care Offers state of the art diagnostic equipment to detect eye disease before it affects your vision.

RETINAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Retinal Photography

As part of our comprehensive vision exam, retinal dilation is performed to screen for ocular health conditions. In addition to retinal dilation, each patient has the opportunity to elect retinal photography. Retinal photography offers high-resolution digital images to document baseline images of the retina as well as early disease process. Retinal photography is one of our advance instrumentation used for the detection of ocular disease. Receive a copy of your retinal images via email before you get home.

VISUAL FIELD EXAMINATION

Visual Field Examination

Visual field perimetry is among one of our advanced diagnostic testing equipment available at First Sight Vision Care. Visual fields are used to determine any disruption to the visual pathway to your brain and eyes. It provides a printout of areas in your peripheral vision that maybe compromised due to ocular and/or neurological disease such as glaucoma. Advanced instrumentation like this, helps our doctors provide a more thorough examination of your ocular health.

OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a test performed to measure the nerve fiber layer thickness and ganglion cell thickness in your eyes. These measurements are used to monitor and diagnose glaucoma, macular degeneration and other retinal eye diseases. Similar to the visual field test, the patient is asked to sit forward in the machine and stare at a green asterisk fixation light while the machine scans each of your eyes. Each scan take only a few seconds to capture. Family history, race and health conditions such as diabetes all contribute to one’s risk level of retinal eye disease. Your doctor will review your results with you and determine the next appropriate course of action.

CORNEAL TOPOGRAPHY AND DRY EYE ANALYSIS

The newest addition to our diagnostic imaging suite is corneal mapping technology. Corneal mapping technology is used to assist in customizing normal and medically necessary contact lens evaluations. Digital tear film and meibomian gland imaging allows for a more customized treatment plan to help mediate your dry eye condition.
